| CVE-2026-1386 | 1 Amazon | 1 Firecracker | 2026-04-18 | 6 Medium |
| A UNIX symbolic link following issue in the jailer component in Firecracker version v1.13.1 and earlier and 1.14.0 on Linux may allow a local host user with write access to the pre-created jailer directories to overwrite arbitrary host files via a symlink attack during the initialization copy at jailer startup, if the jailer is executed with root privileges. To mitigate this issue, users should upgrade to version v1.13.2 or 1.14.1 or above. | ||||
| CVE-2026-21916 | 2 Juniper, Juniper Networks | 2 Junos, Junos Os | 2026-04-17 | 7.3 High |
| A UNIX Symbolic Link (Symlink) Following vulnerability in the CLI of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows a local, authenticated attacker with low privileges to escalate their privileges to root which will lead to a complete compromise of the system. When after a user has performed a specific 'file link ...' CLI operation, another user commits (unrelated configuration changes), the first user can login as root. This issue affects Junos OS: * all versions before 23.2R2-S7, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S3, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-S2, * 25.2 versions before 25.2R2. This issue does not affect versions 25.4R1 or later. | ||||
| CVE-2026-27485 | 1 Openclaw | 1 Openclaw | 2026-04-17 | 4.4 Medium |
| OpenClaw is a personal AI assistant. In versions 2026.2.17 and below, skills/skill-creator/scripts/package_skill.py (a local helper script used when authors package skills) previously followed symlinks while building .skill archives. If an author runs this script on a crafted local skill directory containing symlinks to files outside the skill root, the resulting archive can include unintended file contents. If exploited, this vulnerability can lead to potential unintentional disclosure of local files from the packaging machine into a generated .skill artifact, but requires local execution of the packaging script on attacker-controlled skill contents. This issue has been fixed in version 2026.2.18. | ||||
| CVE-2026-27976 | 2 Zed, Zed-industries | 2 Zed, Zed | 2026-04-17 | 8.8 High |
| Zed, a code editor, has an extension installer allows tar/gzip downloads. Prior to version 0.224.4, the tar extractor (`async_tar::Archive::unpack`) creates symlinks from the archive without validation, and the path guard (`writeable_path_from_extension`) only performs lexical prefix checks without resolving symlinks. An attacker can ship a tar that first creates a symlink inside the extension workdir pointing outside (e.g., `escape -> /`), then writes files through the symlink, causing writes to arbitrary host paths. This escapes the extension sandbox and enables code execution. Version 0.224.4 patches the issue. | ||||
| CVE-2026-25724 | 2 Anthropic, Anthropics | 2 Claude Code, Claude Code | 2026-04-16 | 7.5 High |
| Claude Code is an agentic coding tool. Prior to version 2.1.7, Claude Code failed to strictly enforce deny rules configured in settings.json when accessing files through symbolic links. If a user explicitly denied Claude Code access to a file (such as /etc/passwd) and Claude Code had access to a symbolic link pointing to that file, it was possible for Claude Code to read the restricted file through the symlink without triggering deny rule enforcement. This issue has been patched in version 2.1.7. | ||||
| CVE-2026-24018 | 1 Fortinet | 2 Forticlient, Forticlientlinux | 2026-04-16 | 7.4 High |
| A UNIX symbolic link (Symlink) following vulnerability in Fortinet FortiClientLinux 7.4.0 through 7.4.4, FortiClientLinux 7.2.2 through 7.2.12 may allow a local and unprivileged user to escalate their privileges to root. | ||||
| CVE-2026-39860 | 2 Linux, Nixos | 2 Linux Kernel, Nix | 2026-04-15 | 9 Critical |
| Nix is a package manager for Linux and other Unix systems. A bug in the fix for CVE-2024-27297 allowed for arbitrary overwrites of files writable by the Nix process orchestrating the builds (typically the Nix daemon running as root in multi-user installations) by following symlinks during fixed-output derivation output registration. This affects sandboxed Linux builds - sandboxed macOS builds are unaffected. The location of the temporary output used for the output copy was located inside the build chroot. A symlink, pointing to an arbitrary location in the filesystem, could be created by the derivation builder at that path. During output registration, the Nix process (running in the host mount namespace) would follow that symlink and overwrite the destination with the derivation's output contents. In multi-user installations, this allows all users able to submit builds to the Nix daemon (allowed-users - defaulting to all users) to gain root privileges by modifying sensitive files. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.34.5, 2.33.4, 2.32.7, 2.31.4, 2.30.4, 2.29.3, and 2.28.6. | ||||
| CVE-2026-34446 | 2 Linuxfoundation, Onnx | 2 Onnx, Onnx | 2026-04-15 | 4.7 Medium |
| Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX) is an open standard for machine learning interoperability. Prior to version 1.21.0, there is an issue in onnx.load, the code checks for symlinks to prevent path traversal, but completely misses hardlinks because a hardlink looks exactly like a regular file on the filesystem. This issue has been patched in version 1.21.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-34447 | 2 Linuxfoundation, Onnx | 2 Onnx, Onnx | 2026-04-15 | 5.5 Medium |
| Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX) is an open standard for machine learning interoperability. Prior to version 1.21.0, there is a symlink traversal vulnerability in external data loading allows reading files outside the model directory. This issue has been patched in version 1.21.0. | ||||

| CVE-2025-29787 | 2026-04-15 | N/A | ||
| `zip` is a zip library for rust which supports reading and writing of simple ZIP files. In the archive extraction routine of affected versions of the `zip` crate starting with version 1.3.0 and prior to version 2.3.0, symbolic links earlier in the archive are allowed to be used for later files in the archive without validation of the final canonicalized path, allowing maliciously crafted archives to overwrite arbitrary files in the file system when extracted. Users who extract untrusted archive files using the following high-level API method may be affected and critical files on the system may be overwritten with arbitrary file permissions, which can potentially lead to code execution. Version 2.3.0 fixes the issue. | ||||
| CVE-2025-68937 | 1 Forgejo | 1 Forgejo | 2026-04-15 | 9.9 Critical |
| Forgejo before 13.0.2 allows attackers to write to unintended files, and possibly obtain server shell access, because of mishandling of out-of-repository symlink destinations for template repositories. This is also fixed for 11 LTS in 11.0.7 and later. | ||||
| CVE-2025-57802 | 2026-04-15 | N/A | ||
| Airlink's Daemon interfaces with Docker and the Panel to provide secure access for controlling instances via the Panel. In version 1.0.0, an attacker with access to the affected container can create symbolic links inside the mounted directory (/app/data). Because the container bind-mounts an arbitrary host path, these symlinks can point to sensitive locations on the host filesystem. When the application or other processes follow these symlinks, the attacker can gain unauthorized read access to host files outside the container. This issue has been patched in version 1.0.1. | ||||
| CVE-2025-59825 | 1 Astral | 1 Tokio-tar | 2026-04-15 | 5.9 Medium |
| astral-tokio-tar is a tar archive reading/writing library for async Rust. In versions 0.5.3 and earlier of astral-tokio-tar, tar archives may extract outside of their intended destination directory when using the Entry::unpack_in_raw API. Additionally, the Entry::allow_external_symlinks control (which defaults to true) could be bypassed via a pair of symlinks that individually point within the destination but combine to point outside of it. These behaviors could be used individually or combined to bypass the intended security control of limiting extraction to the given directory. This in turn would allow an attacker with a malicious tar archive to perform an arbitrary file write and potentially pivot into code execution. This issue has been patched in version 0.5.4. There is no workaround other than upgrading. | ||||
| CVE-2024-54159 | 2026-04-15 | 4.1 Medium | ||
| stalld through 1.19.7 allows local users to cause a denial of service (file overwrite) via a /tmp/rtthrottle symlink attack. | ||||
| CVE-2024-28185 | 1 Judge0 | 1 Judge0 | 2026-04-15 | 10 Critical |
| Judge0 is an open-source online code execution system. The application does not account for symlinks placed inside the sandbox directory, which can be leveraged by an attacker to write to arbitrary files and gain code execution outside of the sandbox. When executing a submission, Judge0 writes a `run_script` to the sandbox directory. The security issue is that an attacker can create a symbolic link (symlink) at the path `run_script` before this code is executed, resulting in the `f.write` writing to an arbitrary file on the unsandboxed system. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to overwrite scripts on the system and gain code execution outside of the sandbox. | ||||
